Gothenburg Parks and Gardens

(Gothenburg, Vastergotland, Vastra Gotaland County, Sweden)

Summer photo of the Botaniska Tradgarden (Botanical)With surrounding mountainous scenery, many large public parks and some truly exceptional botanical gardens, the city of Gothenburg has much to offer in the way of green space, which covers around ten percent of the actual city. For some of the best views of the region, including the Vinga lighthouse, head to Gothenburg's tallest mountain, the Ramberget, which stands at around 85 metres / 280 feet above sea level and can be found on the island of Hisingen.

Home to both an extremely eye-catching Palm House and an appealing Butterfly House, Trädgardsföreningen Park also features pleasant gardens and is perfect for a family afternoon out, dating back more than 150 years. Many of the parklands in Gothenburg also feature their own playground areas for children, such as the Engelska Parken and Plikta Park.
