Gothenburg Information and Tourism: Aerial picture of the city's portLocated in a country known for its expensive tastes, Gothenburg (Göteburg) is a pleasant surprise to the pocket and remains one of Sweden's most affordable coastal cities, offering a range of inexpensive accommodation and cheap flights.  Throw in some truly wonderful attractions and visitors will soon realise that Gothenburg is quite a memorable and extremely alluring city.

Gothenburg is home to the biggest harbour and amusement park within the whole of Scandinavia, and also boasts a large student population, which adds to the friendly and vibrant atmosphere.  The true highlight of the city is the Kungsportsavenyn, a spectacular boulevard in every sense and often referred to as the Avenyn (Avenue).

Meandering through the very heart of Gothenburg, the Göta River (Göta Alv) offers a great place for an afternoon boat trip, while others prefer to use the city's trams for a spot of island hopping, which usually pass through the central hub of Brunnsparken.  To find out about these activities and tourism during you stay, visit the Gothenburg tourist information offices of Göteborgs Turistbyra on both the Kungsportsplatsen and Nordstadstorget.

Many tourists come to Gothenburg to simply spend a day or two at Sweden's leading attraction, the Liseberg Amusement Park, which is situated to the south-east of the actual city centre and receives more than three million visitors annually.  Ride the Balder roller coaster if you dare and reach speeds of 90 kph / 56 miles. Alternatively, you can head to Gothenburg's lively beach resorts of Askims, Langedrag and Saltholmen, sightsee onboard an inexpensive tram, or enjoy a trip around the Lilla Bommen harbour, on the beautiful Barken Viking sailing ship.  More information about Gothenburg Tourist Attractions.
